Honouring Our Rich Heritage, Building Our Collective Future
A profound sense of history, gratitude, and forward-looking excitement filled the air this term as we officially celebrated our Alumni Launch Day. The event marked a historic milestone for Dominican College Griffith Avenue, bringing together generations of the DCGA family under a single, powerful banner: "Once DCGA, Always DCGA."
A Journey of Continuity: From Eccles Street to Griffith Avenue
We were deeply privileged to welcome home the Dominican Sisters, alongside a vast array of past pupils and former staff members. The afternoon served as a beautiful celebration of our journey—tracing our evolution from our historic roots on Eccles Street to the vibrant, modern campus we inhabit today at 204 Griffith Avenue.
While our physical locations and campus structures have adapted to meet the needs of changing times, our core spiritual and educational heritage remains completely unchanged. Our foundational Dominican ethos and our school motto, Veritas (Truth), remain the absolute foundation of daily life in our classrooms, just as they were decades ago.
Bridging the Past and the Future
The event beautifully demonstrated the living bridge between our history and our future. Members of our Student Council Executive were on hand to greet our returning guests, adding to the warmth of the afternoon. Current students Ciara and Mia provided a beautiful musical backdrop on the piano, welcoming past pupils back into the fold.
Moving forward, the DCGA Alumni Network will be anchored by three distinct operational pillars:
Connecting Across Generations: We are establishing a dedicated online space for connecting alumni members and sharing newsletters as well as reconnecting.

Open House Tradition. The last Friday in May every year is now a standing open invitation for any milestone class group wishing to coordinate, host, and celebrate their school reunion on campus.

Evolving Our Legacy: We are weaving our past pupils directly back into the fabric of daily school life. Our current students will benefit enormously from a new Past Student Spotlight series, guest speaking engagements for our Transition Years, structured career mentorship, work experience placements, and future event sponsorships.

Digital Platform - Google Studio A bespoke digital platform is being developed to facilitate alumni connections, distribute newsletters, and support meaning.
New Spaces for a Thriving Community
The Alumni Launch also provided the perfect occasion for the official opening of our renovated School Hall, Library, and eco-friendly Polytunnel. These state-of-the-art additions immensely enrich our current students' daily learning and environmental education.
An initiative of this scale requires tremendous collaboration. We wish to express our profound gratitude to the Dominican Ministry Fund and the PA Lotto Fundraiser, whose exceptional generosity made these campus facility upgrades a reality. We also extend a heartfelt note of appreciation to our dedicated Alumni Committee and Sharon Mooney (Hyphen), whose vision and commitment laid the strategic groundwork for this initiative.
