TY Highlights A Year to Remember

TY Sustainability Workshop
By Mia E
Our TY group recently attended the Project Inspire workshop by SOS Group, and it was an eye-opening experience! We explored how small, everyday habits—like recycling properly, conserving energy, and using reusable bottles—can have a big impact on the planet. The talk also touched on mindfulness and how decluttering our surroundings can support mental well-being. I left inspired to make more sustainable choices and to encourage others to do the same.

TY Her Moves: Celebrating Women in Sport
By Rachel O’H
On May 1st, TY students visited the Sport Ireland Campus for HerMoves: Celebrating Women in Sport. The event featured powerful talks from female athletes who shared their journeys, challenges, and achievements. It was inspiring to hear how sport has empowered them and broken down barriers. The energy and encouragement in the room made for a truly memorable day that highlighted the importance of sport in building confidence and community.

Paul Kilgannon Journaling Workshop
By Mia E
We recently took part in a journaling workshop led by Paul Kilgannon, creator of the CARVER Framework. The session focused on self-reflection, planning, and personal growth. I found it incredibly helpful, especially while completing my Well Done Me journal. The workshop gave us practical tools to manage our goals, emotions, and habits. Writing daily has already helped me feel more focused and positive. It was an experience that offered valuable life skills I’ll carry forward.

TY Self-Defence Workshop
By Rachel O’H
Before the summer break, all TY students participated in a self-defence workshop designed to build confidence and personal safety. Liam, our enthusiastic instructor, introduced us to basic techniques like breaking free from grabs and responding to unsafe situations. Practicing punches and kicks with pads was a fun highlight! The session was empowering and engaging, giving us practical tools to protect ourselves. A big thank you to Liam for making it such a worthwhile experience.

TY Croke Park Skyline Tour
By Mia E
To mark the end of TY, we visited Croke Park for an unforgettable skyline tour. From high above the pitch, we took in stunning views of Dublin and learned about the stadium's rich GAA history and cultural significance. We also tried interactive GAA simulators, testing our skills in a fun and energetic setting. It was the perfect blend of education and enjoyment—a fantastic way to wrap up an amazing TY experience.

TY Trip to Flynn Park
By Rachel O’H
Following TY graduation, we headed to Flynn Park for a day of adventure. The highlight was the Aqua Lough inflatable water park, packed with slides, trampolines, and climbing walls. We laughed our way through every obstacle! Trained lifeguards ensured our safety throughout. After lunch, we played a thrilling game of paintball, full of excitement and teamwork. The day was action-packed and unforgettable—a brilliant way to celebrate the end of TY.

TY Trip to Howth
By Mia E
On our final TY day, we took a trip to Howth for a 6km cliff walk in glorious sunshine. The views were breathtaking, and the energy among our group was full of laughter and joy. After the walk, Mr. Costello treated us to 99 ice creams with flakes. Sitting by the sea, we reflected on a fantastic year filled with friendship and memories. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable TY.
