‘Dominican’s Got Talent’ a Huge Success

‘Dominican’s Got Talent’, a 4.1 Mini-Company production, took place on Thursday 12th of February 2009 in front of a sell-out crowd in the School Hall. All the performances on the night were of an excellent standard – congratulations to all those who participated.

The Junior section was won by Niamh Keogh, whilst the Senior section was won by Ciara Byrne.

The overall winner of ‘Dominican’s Got Talent’ was Sarah Dowling.

Profits from the show will go to the Irish Cancer Society and St. Francis Hospice.

4.1 would like to thank Ms. Butler and Ms. Halton for their support, the judges Ms. Mairead McGuire, Bernie Edgeworth and Fionnuala O’Sullivan, and the technical support of Mr. Robert Hurley, and all the other members of staff who helped out in any way.

Congratulations to the 4.1 Mini-Company production team and their teachers Ms. Diane Mohan and Mr. Sean McDermott.

Spanish Debating Team Up and Running

We are delighted to announce that our Spanish debating team is up and running since last November! Our students from 5th and 6th year (Georgina Garrigan, Phillipa Mc Hale, Emma Lousie Hutchinson, Sarah Corcoran and Dawn Lonegran) meet on a weekly basis to practice debating topical issues which are likely to be found on the leaving cert syllabus.   Unfortunately, there has not been enough interest to debate with other schools at competition level.  However, we are practicing in the hope of competing with others next year and overall its great oral practice and so much fun!!

‘Thank You’ to our Parent-Teacher Meeting Volunteers

The management and staff of Dominican College would like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ to all the students who volunteered to assist at all this year’s Parent-Teacher Meetings. Your help on the day is very important to the smooth running of the meeting.
