Dominican Past Pupil a 'Ballet Chancer'

Past Pupil Sandra Fitzgerald to star in RTÉ's new reality show ‘Ballet Chancers'.

Monica Loughman, Ireland's most famous ballerina, is taking on the challenge of a lifetime: to turn six Irish hip-hop dancers into ballet stars.

This new six-part series, Ballet Chancers, starts on RTÉ One on Sunday 16th November at 7.30 pm. It will follow the progress of Monica's protégés over four months of rigorous training before they take their places on stage with Monica and her company, The Irish Youth Russian Ballet Company, to perform The Nutcracker Suite in the Helix in Dublin.

One of Monica's protégés is Sandra Fitzgerald, a past pupil of Dominican College.

If you would like to be a part of Ballet Chancers (the show will be filmed as part of the series for RTÉ One) and see Sandra perform live as part of A Christmas Ballet Spectacular in the Mahoney Hall in the Helix then check out http://www.thehelix.ie/ or call 01 7007000.

Many thanks to all who made May 11th a great day in the history of the school. The beautiful mass, the atmosphere in the school and the fine weather were all that we could have hoped for.  It is our intention to use the goodwill evident on the day to build up a very vibrant past pupil dimension to our school life. After the summer we will be in touch again with plans for the next school year. In the meantime we would like past pupils to email us letting us know their date of graduation.  This will help us plan for the future and to keep in touch.
