The students council brought the school together this afternoon for their annual table quiz, complete with festive spirit. The array of questions, prizes and good-humour by the hosts made the afternoon a treat for us all before embarking on the Christmas exams. Well done girls!!
Friday night, November 18th 2016 marked The Institute of Biology of Ireland annual awards to the highest performing students in this year’s Leaving Certificate Biology examination. This activity encourages interest in Biology at all levels in Ireland. Saoirse Pagel (LC class of 2016) was presented with a gold medal and a certificate in recognition of her excellent achievement. In addition, her teacher of Biology, Ms. K. Ward, received a certificate of commendation, and Dominican College was presented with a certificate. This was a lovely occasion offering a real celebration of all the work that the students, their families, teachers and schools put into attaining such high standards in biology.
We would like to thank last night's audience members who attended the opening night of Beauty and the Beast which had to be cancelled after a local power cut. All those who attended were treated to a singsong and we really appreciate the good humour shown throughouot by all.
Tuesday, 29th November, has been selected as an alternative date and we will honour all tickets sold, or issue refunds where necessary.

On Tuesday October 11th all 3rd year students took a trip to Howth for a mini coastal fieldwork. Our trip began at Howth summit and finished on Balscadden Beach. Students started the day by recalling what they remembered about coastal processes before going on the summit walk. On the way they identified features of coastal erosion and deposition. On reaching Balscadden Beach students completed the fieldwork booklet by carrying out a number of fieldwork activities. These included a wave count as well as completing a sketch of all coastal features identified. There was also great excitement when a curious seal made an appearance! A great day was had by all.
